Federal and state agents arrested 18 people in Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes, and in response, “several blockades and burning of vehicles” were reported in the area since Saturday morning following a security operation where a drug lab was seized.
“To safeguard the safety of the region’s residents, security agents implemented various operational techniques and tactics,” which in addition to leading to the arrest of participants in the blockade, also resulted in the seizure of 20 firearms, a grenade launcher, 28 tactical vests, helmets, magazines, cartridges and accessories, and one kilo of white powder.
Ground and aerial reconnaissance supported by a State Police aircraft. During the operational deployment, they found an area apparently used as a camp by organized crime groups, where they identified several individuals carrying high-powered weapons.
“It should be noted that the detainees are linked to a criminal group, and one of them was injured, so he was taken into custody to a hospital for medical attention.”
The cabinet indicated that the detainees were informed of their legal rights and, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine their legal status.
How was the seizure carried out?
In the municipality of Asientos, in the eastern part of the state, authorities seized a drug lab located in the community of Pabellón de Hidalgo, in Rincón de Romos.
Members of the Army, the National Guard, and state and municipal corporations are maintaining operations along various highways in the north of the state to reinforce security.
Two people were found dead in the municipality of Pabellón de Arteaga. The completely burned bodies were found in an irrigation canal.
To date, authorities have not been able to determine the sex or identity of the victims due to the condition of the remains.
