Uber activates ‘Alert Zones’ for driver safety in Aguascalientes

Uber introduced a new update to its driver app in Aguascalientes, incorporating two key features: the rider’s seniority tag and the so-called “Alert Zones.” Both elements are displayed before accepting a ride and aim to improve the driver-partner experience without impacting riders.

“Thanks to consistent listening efforts, we know that drivers in Aguascalientes appreciate having more information and clarity about their rides,” said Cecilia Román, Safety Communications Manager for Uber in Mexico.

What’s new with these features?

Rider Seniority: From now on, drivers will see the rider’s rating and number of completed rides (in parentheses) on the offer screen, providing a more complete overview before accepting a ride.

Alert Zones: This is a warning icon that may appear at pickup or drop-off points. This is based on public information, reports from other partners, and previous ride data. If present, the address will be displayed in brown along with an attention symbol (

These tools do not affect drivers’ acceptance rates. If they are not comfortable, they can simply let the request expire.

Enhanced Security

These new features add to a set of security measures already integrated into the app, such as:

Mandatory user verification (via ID or photo scan).

Use of artificial intelligence to identify high-risk requests or duplicate accounts.

Inappropriate name policy, with direct reporting option.

Default pick-up/drop-off points for added security.

Minimum rider rating filters.

In addition, drivers continue to have access to tools such as PIN code verification, the option to share rides with trusted contacts, encrypted video recording, included insurance, and 24/7 support.
