He indicated that the fights are a sign of the decomposition of the social fabric. There are currently 300 gangs in Aguascalientes
The Secretary of Public Security of the state, Manuel Alonso García, ruled out that there are “dangerous” gangs in the state, this in relation to the events that occurred over the weekend in Pilar Blanco, where two young people lost their lives in a fight between gangs.

The secretary indicated that these fights are a sign of the decomposition of the social fabric, pointing out that the reconstruction of the fabric is a responsibility of everyone, starting with the family environment.

“I think that the issue of fights is a characteristic of what we have been commenting on, which unfortunately throughout the country is one of the factors of the decomposition of this social fabric and the loss of values, where from the state we have emphasized that we have to address the issues of prevention.”

He pointed out that these issues must be addressed in conjunction with society, “we cannot say that it is only the responsibility of the authorities, but rather it is a responsibility that we all have in the matter of prevention, of recovering values.”

He said that not only the issue of education begins at home, but also the issue of security: “it is important that parents help us in the matter of educating children, because we have identified that many young people are up late at night and do not pay attention to what they do.”

He indicated that the Security Secretariat has been working on prevention, such as with the Reintegra program, where there are 500 young people.

He said that work has also been done with gang groups on the anti-gang fisherman issue, together with the National Guard and the Mexican Army.

The secretary, therefore, ruled out any curfew in neighborhoods with greater conflict, ensuring that the issue of fights has been decreasing, even though this unfortunate case occurred.

He mentioned that a call should also be made to young people, that gangs do not leave anything good and because “we must work on prevention and see the factors that are leading young people to seek these spaces, which should not be the case, that is why we continue working so that young people have educational, sports or cultural goals, where there are many opportunity schemes.”

He pointed out that there are currently 300 gangs with whom we are working, listening to them and seeing what can be done together.

“What we do know is that it does not bring any positive end to have conflicts or physical confrontations, which then lead to other types of situations, in addition, they should know that carrying knives is a crime in Aguascalientes.”

He ruled out that there are dangerous gangs, “there are different colonies, especially in the east, but we have not identified any that are dangerous, I would not like to call them dangerous, or label them as criminals, I think they are groups of young people and we have to see their characteristics, but, I insist, the call is to the parents.”
