he International Horse Fair of Aguascalientes began this Friday, August 7, and for 10 days will bring together equestrian activities, exhibitions, shows, and proposals for the whole family at Isla San Marcos.
In an interview with Érick Rodríguez, coordinator of the International Horse Fair and president of the Association of Breeders and Horsemen of Aguascalientes, explained that the event seeks to become one of the most important equestrian gatherings in the country and the continent.
“The largest equestrian event in the American continent,” he stated.
The fair will take place from August 7 to 16 and will feature the participation of approximately 2,500 horses and between 450 and 500 riders, as well as representatives from countries such as England, the United States, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, and Chile, among others.
What activities will there be at the International Horse Fair?
According to Érick Rodríguez, one of the main attractions will be the variety of equestrian disciplines that visitors will be able to enjoy.
During the 10 days, there will be exhibitions of reining, vaulting or gymnastics on horseback, mounted archery, horseball, mountain games, rodeo, classical dressage, high school, training, and charrería, among other activities.
There will also be competitions and exhibitions featuring different horse breeds, including:
- Quarter Horse
- Pinto
- Appaloosa
- Miniature horses
- Arabian horses
- Friesian
- Ibero-American
- Costa Rican Paso horse
- Mexican horse
- Spanish horse
- Iberian horse
In addition, the main arena of the Megavelaria at Isla San Marcos will host different shows and performances.
Among the invited guests is Manuel Márquez, from the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, who will offer a clinic on carriage driving with European carriages.
“We are going to bring together most of the disciplines and horse breeds that exist in our country,” he explained.
Is admission to the Horse Fair free?
One of the main attractions of the International Horse Fair of Aguascalientes is that general admission to the venue will be free.
Parking will also be free, and visitors will be able to enjoy three equestrian arenas operating simultaneously throughout the 10 days of the event.
The fair will also feature a commercial area, a food area, amusement rides, an educational and interactive farm for children, and a pavilion dedicated to products made in Aguascalientes.
However, some activities will have an admission fee. For example, the medieval show that will take place at the charro arena starting Tuesday, August 11, at 8:00 p.m., will have a general admission price of 100 pesos.
International Horse Fair seeks to attract families
In addition to activities directly related to horses, the organizers prepared different options for those who visit the fair with their families.
The educational farm will be especially aimed at younger children, while the food and commercial areas will offer other alternatives for visitors.
Rodríguez emphasized that the intention is for the public to find different activities during their visit, even if they do not have a specific interest in any particular equestrian discipline.
When does the International Horse Fair end?
The International Horse Fair of Aguascalientes will take place until August 16, 2026, at the Isla San Marcos venue.
According to the event coordinator, more than 80,000 visitors are expected during the 10 days of activities.
The organizers attribute part of Aguascalientes’ appeal to its connectivity with other states in the country and to its security conditions, which, according to Rodríguez, allow visitors, riders, and horses from different places to attend.
To check the complete schedule, the organizers indicated that it can be reviewed on the official International Horse Fair of Aguascalientes 2026 Facebook page, where questions about the activities can also be addressed.
“There is no excuse because if you do not like horses, if you do not like charrería, you can go to classical dressage and high school,” Rodríguez commented.
Thus, over the coming days, Aguascalientes will become a meeting point for horse enthusiasts, charrería and the different equestrian disciplines, as well as for those looking for a family activity during the summer vacation.
