Municipal Civil Protection Coordinator Gabino Vázquez alerted the public to key high-risk areas during the state’s rainy season, particularly where streams and micro-watersheds converge.
Identified locations include the intersection of Las Cumbres Avenue and Los Arellano Stream; the junction of the Third Ring Road and Alameda Avenue; the El Cedazo Stream crossing near Siglo XXI; the intersection of Mariano Hidalgo and the Third Ring Road; as well as areas such as Cañada Honda, Constitución, Pozo Bravo, and the Estrella neighborhood.
Vázquez advised avoiding underpasses during rainfall, as they can quickly become hazardous.
He warned that a water current just 15 centimeters deep can knock a person down and sweep them away, while a current deeper than 50 centimeters can carry off a compact vehicle.
The official urged the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid crossing through flowing water.
Finally, he noted that there have been no fatalities so far this rainy season and expressed hope that conditions would remain that way.
