The Governor of Aguascalientes, Tere Jiménez, led a meeting with Japanese business leaders, emphasizing the strength of the bilateral relationship, a key factor that has positioned the state as a global automotive powerhouse.
She noted that Aguascalientes remains a strategic destination for new investments, thanks to its competitive advantages such as security, infrastructure, legal certainty, human capital, and government support.
“Investments from Japan and around the world are assured a future of certainty and prosperity in our state. Aguascalientes is one of the safest states in the country and the logistics hub of the Americas; moreover, it offers the best conditions for companies to continue growing,” the governor explained.
Esaú Garza de Vega, Secretary of Economic Development, Science and Technology, presented the state’s economic outlook, highlighting industrial growth, the development of new industrial parks, and the opportunities arising from nearshoring.
“We will maintain an open and collaborative dialogue with companies, in addition to promoting key sectors such as the automotive industry, electromobility, advanced manufacturing, and high-value technologies,” she added.
The Japanese business leaders acknowledged Governor Tere Jiménez’s support in providing certainty for new investments and fostering the growth of established companies. They also emphasized that the state offers ideal conditions for their continued expansion.
Currently, 138 companies with Japanese capital operate in the state, generating more than 66,400 direct jobs. During the current administration, 12 investment announcements from Japanese companies have also been finalized, representing a combined total of $1,072.9 million.
The event, held at the Government House, was attended by Leonardo Montañez Castro, Mayor of Aguascalientes; Diana del Castillo, representative of the Aguascalientes Japanese Business Group; and Satoshi Takehara, President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mexico. Takero Aoyama, Consul General of Japan in León, Guanajuato.
Also in attendance were Masahiko Morito, President of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mexico; Jesús Osvaldo Noriega Toranzo, Director of Nissan’s A1 Vehicle Plant; Daichi Hara, Director of Industrial Promotion for the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Mexico; Manuel Alonso García, Attorney General of the State; Antonio Martínez Romo, Secretary of Public Security of the State; as well as state authorities and representatives of Japanese companies.
