With over 800 runners participating, the race brought together local athletes and visitors who answered the call to bid an energetic farewell to the state’s most important festival.

The race began promptly at 8:00 a.m. at the north entrance of the San Marcos Garden, which once again served as both the start and finish line. From early morning, runners began gathering, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and family camaraderie in one of the city’s most iconic locations.

Where it’s not the fastest who wins, but the one who doesn’t spill a drop: The Waiters’ Race at the San Marcos Fair 2026 combines tradition and skill.

The race offered distances of 10 and 7 kilometers, in addition to a 3-kilometer fun run designed to encourage participation from people of all ages. This variety allowed both high-performance athletes and amateurs to participate in the competition, strengthening the inclusive nature of the event.

The route included the streets of the San Marcos neighborhood, continued along López Mateos Avenue and San Marcos Boulevard, and then headed to San Marcos Island, where participants turned around and returned to the San Marcos Garden. The route offered a dynamic experience that combined tradition, urban infrastructure, and the characteristic atmosphere of the fair.

In this edition, cash prizes ranging from one thousand to three thousand pesos were awarded, depending on the category, in recognition of the winners’ effort and performance. The awards ceremony took place after the races concluded, amidst the applause of the public and organizers.

The Athletic Race was jointly organized by the Aguascalientes State Sports Institute, the San Marcos National Fair Board, and the Aguascalientes Athletics Association. This activity concluded the sports program of the fair, thus closing another edition of the celebration with a day dedicated to sports, community and citizen participation.
