As part of efforts to improve the training of police forces in Aguascalientes, members of the K-9 Group of the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) participated in a specialized course in the United States, obtaining certifications as canine instructors. Upon completion of their training, the SSPE also received a donation of two additional dogs that will join the corporation’s canine units.

The State Public Security Secretary, Manuel Alonso García, highlighted that constant training allows personnel to be prepared to face complex situations and improve service to citizens. On this occasion, with the support of the United States Embassy, two members of the K-9 Group traveled to Texas to train at the Hill Country Dog Center, a renowned training center for police canine units.

During the three months of training, the members acquired advanced skills in training dogs to detect narcotics, weapons and paper money. In addition, they were trained to train dogs that had no previous training, but that met the necessary characteristics to become search dogs. In total, they managed to train 47 dogs under these conditions.

Also participating in the course were members of the Mexican Navy, the Municipal Police of Puebla, as well as delegations from other countries, including Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Peru. Upon completion, the Aguascalientes agents received their certification as instructors, thus reinforcing the commitment of the SSPE to the professionalization and improvement of public safety in the state.
